Pulwama: Paramilitary forces arrived at the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC’s) office in Pulwama at midday and asked the employees to vacate the building, after which they carried out extensive searches.
The search operation was launched at about 12:30 in the afternoon and continued for over an hour.
In the meantime, rumours about a “bomb scare” at the DC office did rounds, creating panic and drama across the main Pulwama town.
According to sources, the paramilitary CRPF men guarding the DC office had spotted some ‘suspicious’ movement within the premises of the office, and wanted to make sure everything was under control.
“They spotted a man with a bag entering the DC office on CCTV footage. The whole search operation was to make sure that the man was harmless and everything was under control,” sources said.
At the conclusion of the search operation, the forces declared the building safe and employees were allowed to go back to their seats.
SSP Pulwama, Chaudhary Muhammad Aslam, confirmed what Kashmir Reader had learnt through sources. “The whole premises were secured by the CRPF and they wanted to make sure the building was safe,” Aslam said.
He added that the man with the bag was found later and he was only carrying groceries in the bag.
“Things returned to normal pretty soon,” he said.
