Passport centre inaugurated at Baramulla

Baramulla: After days of confusion about its reported shifting, the Baramulla district finally got a Passport Seva Kenda on Wednesday.
Member Parilament Fayaz Ahmad Mir accompanied by MLA Baramulla Javeed Hassan Beigh inaugurated the Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) at Baramulla which would bring the passport processing service closer to people’s doorstep benefitting some 20 lacs souls of north Kashmir districts. This is also expected to reduce the waiting time for the applicants.
Mir complimented the people of Baramulla for the facility hoping it would cut the delays caused in the delivery of passports and process applications from far flung areas. He asked the Passport office authorities to prioritize issuance of passports in respect of students, Hajj pilgrims, infirm and other deserving people by speeding up the processes.
Beigh highlighted the significance of the initiative besides terming it a step towards the development of the region. He also expressed gratitude of the concerned and said that government is committed to provide public services at door step. It was informed that Baramulla is among the 144 locations across the country where this facility is being introduced.
