SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Central Contractors Coordination Committee on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration here in Press Enclave Srinagar against Government for failing to clear their pending bills.
Scores of protesters assembled here in press enclave and shouted slogans against the government.
The protesting were demanding clearance of pending payments from various government departments and doing away with the online bill payment system.
“We have been knocking doors of every department like Roads and Buildings department, irrigation department to clear out bills but no one is paying heed to our sufferings,” said protestors.
JKCCCC General Secretary Farooq Ahmad Dar said: “Government is showing a different attitude with us.All the lapsed funds in Kashmir are being diverted to Jammu and Ladakh.
“The online billing system which is introduced by the government is not suitable for Kashmir based Contractors. We don’t have reliable internet service here, the internet service is blocked any time in Kashmir valley” Dar said
The protestors have threatened to come out on the roads if their payment was not released by the government.
The protesting contractors tried to march towards Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s residence but were stopped by police and detained.
