Police arrests 7 gamblers from GDC Sopore

Sopore: Police on Monday claimed to have arrested seven persons and two caretakers of Sopore Degree College.
Police officials told Kashmir Reader that on specific information a police party arrested seven gamblers and recovered fifty thousand rupees money from their Possession during a raid from the Sopore Degree College.
According to sources, among gamblers two-night caretakers of the college were also held in the raid, reports said that both persons were doing illegal activities for years.
Meanwhile the Police identified the arrested gamblers as Umar Farooq Guru son of Farooq Ahmed Guru resident of Badam Bagh Sopore, Aamir Ahmed Kana son of Ghulam Mohammed Kana resident of Badam Bagh Sopore, Umar Bashir Sheikh son of Bashir Ahmed Sheikh resident of Bhatpara Sopore, Imtiyaz Ahmed Kanday son of Ghulam Hassan Kanday resident of Bypass Sopore, Tahir Ahmed Ganie son of Firdous Ahmed Ganie resident of Green Town Sopore, Imran Khaliq Kana son of Abdul Khaliq Kana resident of Kaushal Matoo Sopore, Javeed Ahmed Bhat son of Ghulam Qadir Bhat resident of Baghat Sopore.
The caretakers were identified as Farooq Ahmed and Bilal Ahmed.
An FIR no. 36/2018 U/S 13 gambling act has been registered in Sopore police station and further investigation has been taken up, police statement reads.
Principal Degree College of Sopore, Mushtaq Ahmed termed the involvement of college employees unfortunate.
“Strict action would be taken against these caretakers,” he said.
