Ganderbal: Residents of Waskoora village in Ganderbal district held a protest on Monday morning demanding whereabouts of a missing man from the village.
Muneer Ahmad Baba, 27, son of Mohammad Afzal Baba, an automobile mechanic went missing from Batamaloo area of Srinagar two weeks ago.
Muneer’s cousin, Mehraj-ud-din Baba told Kashmir Reader that his cousin was not mentally stable, but would travel from Batamaloo to Waskoora regularly.
Even though he was not carrying any phone, he said, they tried to trace him on their own initially.
“We went to local police station at Shadipora to lodge the missing report but they did not register it and said that he has gone missing in Batamaloo area of Srinagar,” Mohammad Afzal Baba, father of missing man said. Mohammad Akbar Teli, a local resident said that they have held protests previously too and police assured them that they are trying to trace Muneer, but after 15 days they are still to trace him. The protestors, both men and women, demanded that police should immediately trace down the missing man so that the family members get a sigh of relief.
Later a police party pacified the protesters. SHO Batamaloo, Bilal Ahmad, told Kashmir Reader that a missing report is registered in the matter and investigation is going on.
