Srinagar: The students of SKIMS Medical College Bemina staged a protest inside the college premises against the brutal rape and murder of minor Gujjar gril in Kathua.
Raising slogans for justice, the students demanded stern punishment to the men involved in the ghastly act and strongly denounced “those who are trying to shield the culprits”.
Students held placards in solidarity with the minor girl.
They said that people irrespective of their religion support the punishment to the guilty and that it is the collective responsibility of all the people living in the state to ensure stern punishment to the people involved in the rape and murder.
They protestors said that no religion in the world allows rape and the recent incident was not only heart wrenching but also condemnable in all words.
They said the incident is a blot on the face of entire humanity and the act deserves all forms of condemnation.
“With our protest we want to convey a message to all the people out there, to the Chief Minister, and the people who are playing politics with such a sensitive issue. The rape and murder of the minor was an inhuman and barbaric act, and the irony is some people out there are shielding the accused which is highly unfortunate. We want justice to prevail for the 8-year-old girl who died for no fault of her own. And we stress the government to put such a law in place that no one in future dares to do so,” speakers at the protest said.
“To the people who are shielding the accused, you are shielding a murderer. For the sake of humanity if there is any of it left, don’t try to cover up his inhuman act, be with us in this and let he be sent to gallows. Today it’s Asifa, tomorrow it could be anyone among us. This has to stop now. We all have to stand for her, and we will keep fighting until the accused is punished,” they said.
The protestors demanded that government should also take action against those who organized a “pro-rapist” rally.
