Lack of coordination between departments risking lives in Pampore
PAMPORE: Lack of coordination between Public Health Engineering and Power Development Department Pampore have risked the lives of Tulbagh residents in Pampore in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district
Residents said the PHE’s digging to check leakage in a water pipe has lead to sagging of an electric pole carrying high tension wires.
They said that due to the digging the pole could have fallen if a wall nearby had not supported it.
The residents alleged that the two departments were dilly dallying on the remedial measures to avert a disaster in the making.
“It is not that the residents are living under threat from a few days, almost 20 days have passed and no one from the departments have given a second look here,” said the house owner living near to the pole, and through whose compound the high tension line passes.
The residents appealed the authorities to fix the pole at the earliest to relieve the residents of impending danger.
Meanwhile, PHE officials told Kashmir Reader that they have already written to PDD about the matter.
“We ourselves are frightened to move close to the pole as going near to it means risking one’s life,” said a PHE official.
However, PDD officials told Kashmir Reader that they have not received any communication from PHE which they have to forward to Sub Transmission Division Pulwama and Sub Division Awantipora besides getting the approval of chief engineer.
Acknowledging the lack of coordination between departments the official said that the line posting danger to residents transmits electricity to JK Cements in Khrew.
