PULWAMA: Given a requisite fillip, horticulture sector can strengthen the financial condition while play an important role in employment generation, this was stated by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama, Ghulam Mohammad Dar here or Saturday.
He was speaking during an awareness-cum-distribution programme for local fruit growers at Karmulla village of Tral. The programme was organised by Horticulture Department Pulwama, an official handout read.
The DDC said that horticulture sector played an important role in the state economy and was a source of livelihood for thousands of people belonging to the district.
He said the administration was trying its best to develop the village as apple-valley and urged growers to “make the best use of technology”. He stressed upon farmers to “avail the maximum benefits of the government schemes for raising their standard of living”.
Different agricultural equipments were also distributed among 252 families of the area under the establishment of a model village at Karmullah, it read.
