KATHUA: Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology Choudhary Lal Singh on Friday conducted a surprise visit of Mahanpur Government Degree College in Basohli to take stock of various ongoing development works in the campus.
During his visit, the minister directed concerned officers of the executing agency to complete the ongoing development works in time without compromising quality and asked for development of playgrounds for badminton and basketball in the campus, read an official handout.
The minister also participated in a plantation drive in the college. He also inspected required standards in infrastructure, faculty, research, sports and other activities of the college.
Deputations from various adjoining areas apprised the minister about the problems being faced by them related to road connectivity, power supply, drinking water, ration distribution, healthcare and education.
Lal Singh assured them that their genuine demands would be resolved at the earliest and advised the people to facilitate the ongoing development works in their area as their proactive participation could ensure corruption free and responsive governance, it added.
