Hajin: Government forces on wee hours of Saturday launched cordon and search operation (CASO) in Hajin town of north Kashmir’s Bandipora District.
Official sources said following tip off about the presence of militants, government forces launched CASO in twin mohallas of Shakoordin and Bonmohala at around 5am.
An official said that a joint team of Army’s 13 RR unit and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir police laid siege to the area.
As the news about CASO spread in the area despite rain people came out from houses and started protests to disrupt the anti militancy operation. The protesters pelted forces with stones resulting to minor clashes in the area. Government forces swing into action and fired numerous tear gas shells to disperse the protesters.
However, the cordon and search operation was called off after no contact was established with the militants, sources said.
