SRINAGAR: The Meteorological Department has predicted rain and fresh snowfall at many places of the state from Friday.
Director Meteorological Department, J&K, Sonam Lotus said that western disturbances are likely to hit J&K again after February 22.
“There will be rain and snowfall at many places across the state during these two days, and higher reaches of Kashmir and Jammu most likely to receive heavy rain and snowfall,” Lotus said. Lotus said that rain was very crucial during the season for the farming community and it will also provide much-needed moisture to the soil during these days.
Meanwhile, Chandigarh based Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE) issued an Low danger avalanche warning for Baramulla, Gulmarg, Furkian-Z Gali and Kupwara-Chowkibal-Tangdhar, Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, Ramban,Doda, Kishtwar Udhampur, Anantnag, Kulgam, Badgam, Kupwara ,Bandipora, Ganderbal Kargil and Leh Districts, Bandipora-Kanzalwan-Gurez sector and Srinagar-Jammu National Highway for next 24 hrs.
People living in these avalanche prone areas have been advised by the Disaster Management Authority to take precautionary measures.
Traffic authorities (Rural) on Thursday closed Srinagar-Jammu highway for traffic for the fourth consecutive day after fresh landslides hit at the two places near Udhamur
However the officials of Srinagar- Jammu highway told Kashmir Reader that on Friday traffic will ply from Srinagar to Jammu.
