HC seeks explanation from secretaries
SRINAGAR: The J&K High Court has directed the secretaries to government, finance and law department to file personal affidavits explaining why the proposal relating to construction of additional building for lawyers chambers at Moominabad, Srinagar is not feasible.
The division bench of Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar and Justice MK Hanjura showed dissatisfaction with the status report filed by Law Department and remarked that there was no strong reason for not constructing lawyer chambers.
The Law Department report submitted said the lawyers chamber were not feasible to construct because of several reasons.
“Financial constraints and limited resources are some reason behind its impossibility,” the report said.
The court observed that the statement is vague and not supported by any material either from the Financial Secretary or from the Chief Secretary of the State.
Earlier, the petition was filed in the court for the construction of another building for lawyers chamber.
