Patients protest in Sopore against transfer of lady doctor

Sopore: A protest was held on Wednesday outside Mother and Child Hospital (MCH) by female patients at Iqbal Market in north Kashmir’s Sopore town against the transfer of a lady doctor.
Scores of patients assembled outside MCH Sopore and blocked a road at Iqbal Market against the alleged transfer of doctors.Slogans were raised against Block Medical Officer and Chief Medical officer.
The protestors were demanding immediate revocation of transfer orders.
The transfer of Dr Kaisara (Gynecologist) will drastically affect the healthcare in the hospital, said Mymoona, a patient. She said that unannounced transfer of doctors from Sopore has become routine and it always results in more suffering of the people here in the town.
Meanwhile after getting assurance from Station House Officer, protest was disrupted peacefully.
Block Medical Officer of Sopore Dr Sami terming transfer of doctors baseless and said that for the period of one week few doctors will perform their duty at District Hospital Baramulla on emergency bases and in return we will get another doctor to attend patients at her place.
