Disaster awareness programme held at Anantnag

ANANTNAG: A day-long training-cum-awareness camp on disaster preparedness was organized on Wednesday at Srigufwara byDistrict Disaster Management Authority Anantnag.
Tehsildar head quarter, Anantnag Imtiyaz Ali, Tehsildar Srigufawara RashidRaina,officials from Civil Defence Anantnag, Health and Rural Development were present on the occasion.
The camp witnessed a massive participation of a large number of ASHA workers, Anganwari workers, numberdars, chowkidars, volunteers, and functionaries of Disaster Management Authority and other prominent sections of the society.
The people, volunteers and other members of civil defence were imparted training in medical emergency rescue, and emergency evacuation using ropeways, besides giving glimpse of modern equipment used in collapsed structures and fire-fighting.
The people and other participants hailed this initiative of district administration and demanded to conduct such programs in future as well.
The programme was aimed at educating the people about various means of disaster management, besides disseminating awareness about various methods of mitigating disaster losses.
On the occasion, various speakers deliberated on the topic and exhorted upon proper preparedness to minimize losses.
Later, a mock drill was organized in which volunteers of civil defence, youth services and sports, revenue, education, and other departments participated.
