Militants attack Air Force station water supply complex

ANANTNAG: The water supply pump shed of the Air Force station here in Malangpora area of Awantipora police district came under a grenade attack followed by heavy firing on Tuesday evening.
The pump shed is located right outside the Air Force station on land owned by SKUAST.
No one was injured and no loss to property was reported. The sentries guarding the pump shed also fired several rounds as the militants managed their escape.
The attack, as per the police, took place at about 5.30 pm Tuesday evening.
“A grenade was lobbed followed by intense firing by militants, who were two to three in number,” a senior police official told Kashmir Reader.
He said no one was injured during the attack and there was no damage to property.
“The water supply set-up is safe,” the official said.
Defense spokesperson Rajesh Kalia said that the alert sentries effectively retaliated the firing.
“Militants managed to flee,” he said.
The area was cordoned off following the attack, and searches were carried out to try and nab the attackers.Searches continued while this report was being filed.
