Market checking conducted at Baramulla

BARAMULLA: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Baramulla, Farooq Ahmad Baba on Tuesday conducted marketing checking at various locations of Baramulla.
The checking was aimed to ensure the quality and price control and to keep vigil on erring traders.
During the inspection, the checking team realised fine of Rs.21,000 from various shopkeepers violating legal regulations. The team also destroyed 65 kgs of contaminated spices and seized 70 kgs of polythene, read an official handout.
On the occasion, the ADC said that several committees had already been constituted at tehsil level so that such drives could also be launched at tehsil level.
The ADC impressed upon authorities to “ensure hassle-free movement of commuters by acting against street encroachers”. He urged upon the people to “avoid the use of polythene so that the pollution can be minimised”, it added.
