Baramulla: Indian and Pakistan troops on Monday exchanged fire along the Line of Control in Uri resulting in injury to three civilians.
Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla Imtiyaz Hussain said that three civilians were injured in cross border firing in Uri. He said the wounded have been removed to hospital for treatment. However, their identity could not be ascertained while this report was being filed.
An official said that Pakistani forces violated the ceasefire around 3:15 pm targeting Indian army bunkers in Churanda village of Uri. The fire was retaliated by army troopers, he added.
Sub divisional police officer Uri Javid Ahmad confirmed that the ceasefire violations along the LoC.
Villagers said troops used heavy arms to target each other. Due to firing, panic gripped among the villagers of Churanda, Thajal, Batgram, Balkote, Cilikote, Tilawari, Hathlango and Soura. They said that due to firing they were unable to move out of their houses.
