SSA teachers demand release of salary

SRINAGAR: The Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers on Monday staged a protest demonstration here against the government for non -release of salary for three months.

Scores of protesting teachers assembled here in press enclave and raised slogans in favour of their demands.

Shah Fayaz, spokesman of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan teachers Association said, “Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan is a scheme sponsored by Government of India. Nearly 50, 000 teachers in Jammu and Kashmir were engaged under this scheme. We demand the state government to release our previous salary of three months and arrears. If government is claiming of improving standards of education day in and day out, they why they are doing injustice with us?,” he questioned.

The protesters appealed the Minister of Education Syed Altaf Bukhari to intervene into the matter and streamline their salaries and pending arrears.
