Srinagar: An unidentified person was shot dead at Air Force station in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday.
Police said that the airforce authorities informed them that at airforce station Budgam around 1205 am one unidentified individual entered the security zone area.
“He crossed the security fence and came close to the station perimeter wall. Despite the repeated warnings from the sentry the individual did not stop. The sentry gave some warning shots but when individual did not stop he fired at him,” police said.
Later, according to police Airforce informed the Police post Humhama.
Spot examination revealed death of a man (age 50-55 years), police said. According to police from the initial examination it appears the individual to be mentally unstable as he had no foot wears, no identity card, lack of adequate winter clothes. “The person is yet to be identified,” police added.
Local police has taken the body in custody and is in the process of ascertaining the identity of the individual.
