Russian skier killed in avalanche at Gulmarg

Sopore: A skier from Russia was killed but others in his group were rescued when an avalanche hit Affarwat peak at Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday. The avalanche occurred near the second phase of the gondola service on the Affarwat peak in Gulmarg, trapping a group of Russian skiers. While 30-year-old Stanis Lav died in the accident, others were rescued, said Chief Executive Officer of Gulmarg Development Authority, Balki.
Last month, a Swedish skier, Daniel (Kunt Henrik), was killed in a snow avalanche at Gulmarg, while another skier was rescued.
