Kashmir: Militants on Friday managed to escape from cordon after a brief gunfight with government forces at Palhallan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Forces called off their operation at Palhallan after a brief gunfight with militants amid intense stone-pelting from protesters, sources said.
Hundreds of protesters took to streets and clashed with forces soon after the gunfight between militants and forces started in the area.
The police and para-military CRPF used teargas shells and pellet firing to disperse the protesters, they said.
An operation was launched following inputs about the presence of some militants in the area.
