SRINAGAR: District Hospital Pulwama performed first ever successful Radical Nephrectomy on a 50-year-old male patient, an official statement on Wednesday said.
It said the patient presented with incidental diagnosis of left renal mass on USG. He was advised CECT Abdomen and Pelvis. CECT revealed a heterogeneously enhancing huge mass measuring around 9×8 cm arising from lower and mid pole of the kidney.
Radical Nephrectomy was performed by a team of doctors. The patient is recovering well and has been discharged. The operative team headed by Urologist Dr Ashiq included senior surgeon Dr Ayub, Dr Iffat Dr Naseer (Anaesthetist) and Nasir Pandit along with OT staff.
Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Saleem ur Rehman while appreciating the operative team and hospital administration said the scope of delivering advance health care services in the peripheries is increasing and the department is focused on augmenting the logistics and human resource for better patient care.
