Locals protest after 11000 Kva line touches supply line in Uri village

Boy injured, electric appliances in houses damaged

Baramulla: A 11000 KVa power line downed and touched a local power supply line in Mohra area of Uri on Monday night leading to burn injuries to a boy inside his home and damages to electric appliances inside homes.
Scores of people took out a protest on Tuesday against the Power Development Department in the area.
Local residents said, a youth, Sameer Ahmad Sofi, son of
Bashir Ahmad Sofi, received burn injuries when the 11000 KVa line fell on the local power supply line at around 10pm Monday sending high voltage power to households in Kanderwan Mohalla of Mohra.
Villagers said the households received 11000 volt electric currents damaging electric appliances and power fitting, (switch boards, TV sets, radio and mobile phones).
The injured youth was shifted to district hospital Baramulla where his condition is said to be stable.
The protestors blocked Baramulla Uri road on Tuesday, however, SDM Uri D Sagar reached the spot and assured action against the department after which the protestors dispersed.
