Militant, associate killed in Sopore bike crash

SOPORE: Two militants were killed in a road accident in Sopore after the motorcycle on which they were riding skidded on the slippery road in the wee hours of Monday.
The duo was on a motorcycle (JK05F 0794), when the bike skidded on the wet road due to snow and rains near Warpora area. One died on the spot and another succumbed to his injuries in Srinagar Hospital.
Sopore police chief Harmeet Singh Mehta told Kashmir Reader that the duo died in road accident. He identified one among the deceased as Owais Bashir Mir son of Bashir Ahmad Mir of Brath Kalan Sopore while the identity of the other deceased is yet to be ascertained.
According to him, Owais had recently joined militant ranks.
Locals at the spot told Kashmir Reader that both were discovered lying in a pool of blood in an orchard near Warpora road. As one was already dead, the other was shifted to Sopore Sub-District Hospital, where from he was referred to Srinagar Hospital and later succumbed to his injuries.
“We only found the identity card from the pocket of one deceased, later identified as a local, and no identity card was found from the pocket of the other deceased,” a witness said.
