- JAMMU: Two days after militants staged fidayeen attack on Army military station in Jammu, defence minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, arrived in Jammu on Monday to discuss the prevailing situation with chief minister Mehbooba Mufti.
An official said Sitharaman flew to Jammu in the morning to take stock of discuss the prevailing situation. The defence minister discussed the militant attack in Jammu with the chief minister, it said.
Nine persons including five soldiers, three militants and a civilian were killed in the attack.
“During the meeting, the two leaders discussed overall security scenario obtaining in the state particularly in the backdrop of continued shelling on the borders and the attack on army camp at Sunjwan two days ago,” an official handout said.
A day ago, Army chief General Bipin Rawat had arrived in Jammu to take stock of the situation. Last week, a top army huddle was held in the winter capital to discuss the prevailing situation in the state.
