SRINAGAR: Chairman of his faction of Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Sunday said “the nation pays glowing tribute to the supreme sacrifice of Shaheed Maqbool Bhat on his 34th death anniversary of his hanging in Tihar jail”.
“The sacrifices of our brave-hearts is our guiding light to stay steadfast and patient in our just struggle for the achievements of the right to self-determination – the fundamental right of all humans and nations on the globe,” Mirwaiz said in a statement.
He expressed deep grief over the death of a teenage girl Saima Wani of Shopian who was battling for life for the past two weeks in a hospital after being “shot at with impunity in the head by Indian forces”.
“Our women and children too not are spared and this was a reflection of the great Indian state that believes “all is fair in war” on unarmed civilian Kashmiris,” he said.
Mirwaiz added, “It is our prime and utmost duty to protect and safeguard the sacrifices rendered by the people of Kashmir to take the ongoing movement to its logical conclusion.”
Meanwhile, spokesperson of the amalgam has strongly condemned the continuous house detention of its chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and continuous arrest of Hurriyat leader Mukhtar Ahmad Waza and imposing severe restrictions in parts of Srinagar and north Kashmir, the statement said.
In a statement, Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik while paying tributes to party’s ideologue and founding leader Maqbool Bhat said, “The struggle and sacrifices of the father of Kashmiri nation martyr Muhammad Maqbool Butt are beacon light for every oppressed and occupied nation. He stands as symbol of steadfastness and valour for us and serves as a corner stone for our resistance.”
“Every aspect of his (Bhat’s) life stands as a milestone for us and this nation can never forget his struggle and sacrifices. When Indian rulers hanged Maqbool Butt at Tihar Jail in 1984, they fancied about finishing Kashmiri resistance and thus disremembered about the reality of everlasting life of martyrs.”
“The martyrdom of Maqbool Butt gave birth to thousands of young Maqbools who are till today striving for the righteous cause, sacrificing their lives in nook and corner of Jammu Kashmir and writing down new chapters of passion, valour and greatness,” Malik said. “Today when we are recalling the struggle and sacrifices of our great leader, we reiterate our pledge to take forward the mission of martyrs at every cost till the achievement of the sacred goal.”
Meanwhile, a JKLF statement said various programs were held throughout the world in which Kashmiris remembered Maqbool Bhat.
The program was held at National Press Club in Islamabad, Pakistan, Pakistan-administered Kashmir, Mirpur, Lahore, Karachi and other cities of Pakistan besides across Europe, UK, USA, Canada, Germany, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and other parts of the Middle East, the statement said.
