DDC Anantnag reviews arrangements
ANANTNAG: To review the arrangements for Pahalgam Winter Festival-2018 being held on February 17 and 18, District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Mohammad Younis Malik convened a meeting here on Friday.
The meeting was attended by CEO PDA, SDM, Exens of R&B, PDD, PHE, Deputy Director Fisheries, Chief Horticulture Officer, Block Development Officer Khoverpora, Anantnag and Bijbehara, Assistant Directors Tourism, Handicrafts, Handlooms, Fire & Emergency Services, Executive Officers of Municipal Council Anantnag, Municipal Committees Bijbehara, Mattan, Aishmuqam and Pahalgam, Range officer Forest Department, SDAO Pahalgam, BMO Mattan and other concerned.
CEO Pahalgam Development Authority apprised the DDC about the arrangements put in place for holding the 2-day Winter Festival.
According to an official handout, seven venues have been identified where different activities will be held. The departments of Tourism, Agriculture, Horticulture, Floriculture, Handicrafts, and Handlooms will establish their stalls for the visitors. Cultural programmes will be also organised on these days, the handout read.
The DDC directed all the concerned officers to “make foolproof arrangements” with regard to the successful celebration of the festival.
He aslo directed the PHE Department to “ensure adequate water supply to the hutment areas” and also for keeping waters tankers at the venues.
He asked the PDD authorities to “ensure uninterrupted power supply” and keeping DG sets available.
He also directed the concerned departments for proper sanitation from Bijbehara en-route Pahalgam and deploying fire tenders as well, read the handout.
The Health Department was directed to “establish medical aid camps” at the venue.
The departments of agriculture, horticulture, handloom, handicrafts were directed to set up their stalls to display mushki budji and honey, Kashmiri shawls, gabbas and other handicraft material.
The DDC also directed CEO PDA to coordinate with the local hoteliers, dhaba wallas and other persons related to different tourism-related activities to decorate the venue sites, the handout added.
