SRINAGAR: Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) chairperson Syeda Aasiya Andrabi on Friday paid glorious tributes to Muhammad Afzal Guru and Maqbool Bhat on their anniversaries saying “the souls of the duo attained freedom from slavery and imprisonment of India and they made their nation proud”.
“They have proved that India cannot eliminate the freedom sentiments of Kashmiri nation by whatsoever oppression,” Andrabi said in a statement.
She said both suffered and sacrificed for the “sacred cause” of Kashmir and tolerated all ups and downs. “Their sacrifices have been recorded in the history of resistance in golden words and would act as a guiding light for the generations to come.”
“Observing a day in their honour without any goal is useless. The day should be observed to reiterate the resolve that the people of Kashmir are militarily occupied and that we will not bow down to the might of our occupier.”
She said Kashmiris have laid numerous sacrifices and there is no way to back out or surrender. “We have to stand firm. Surrendering is a trait of a hypocrite,” she said.
“Shaheed Muhammad Maqbool Bhat and Shaheed Muhammad Afzal Guru are heroes of the Kashmiri nation. They will continue to inspire generations and will be remembered as great symbols of courage,” Aasiya added.
The DeM chief added, “The best tribute we will be offering to these true sons of the soil and great soldiers of Islam is to renew our pledge towards the cause of freedom and continue this sacred struggle till it reaches its logical end.”
