SRINAGAR: Casual Labourers of Irrigation and Flood Control department of Kashmir protested against the non -payment of wages from three years
The protesters said they are working in the department from last 15 years and are attending their duties regularly.
“If the state government is giving monthly salary to its employees, why step-motherly treatment with us,” they questioned during a protest at press enclave here.
Muhammad Ayoub, a casual labour said “we have not been paid a single penny for three years. If we are doing our job regularly why the government is not paying our previous wages of three years. This is not an issue of one person, it is an issue of twelve thousand families which are suffering from last three years,” he said.
“We are not even able to pay for studies of our children. They are on verge of discontinuing studies,” he added.
