SRINAGAR: Batmaloo Traders coordination Committee on Wednesday held a protest demonstration against the shifting of Batamaloo Bus Stand and demanded rehabilitation of affected shopkeepers as well as street vendors.
Scores of the protestors assembled at press colony here and appealed the authorities to revoke the decision of shifting the General Bus stand from the Batmaloo area in the interest of thousands of traders and other people associated with it.
Batamaloo Trader Committee members said that a large number of traders have established their business around Batamaloo bus stand and shifting of bus stand to Parimpora mandi has affected the trading activity in the area.
Abrar Ahmad, head of Batamaloo Coordination Committee said that around 5500 Shops has been worst affected due to the low rush of the public after shifting of the bus stand.
“Some Traders have also taken the business loan from the different branch of Jammu and Kashmir Bank. Due to the affected of their business, they are unable to deposit the loan amount to the bank.\
The protestors said that they have already informed the government about the consequences of shifting the Batamaloo bus stand to other place and similar moves in the past have failed miserably
