SRINAGAR: The government on Tuesday suspended Tehsildar Dooru for not attending the R-Day function at tehsil headquarters Verinag.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan in an order suspended Muzaffar Malik with immediate effect and attached him to the office of deputy commissioner Anantnag.
“Shri Muzaffar Malik, Tehsiladar Dooru with additional charge of Tehsil Verinag, was supposed to unfurl the National Flag on 26th January 2018, at Tehsil Hqrs Verinag,” reads the order. “Whereas reportedly the said officer has assigned the said job to a Patwari. Whereas this attitude is unbecoming of an officer to show type of dereliction towards his duties. Now therefore pending enquiry to be conducted by deputy commissioner Anatnag, Shri Muzaffar Malik is placed under suspension with immediate effect, and attached in the office of Deputy commissioner Anantnag,” reads the order.
DC Anantnag Muhammad Younis Malik told Kashmir Reader that Malik has been suspended, an inquiry initiated, and the report will come in the next few days.
Asked why Muzaffar was put under suspension before the inquiry had submitted its report, Younis said, “I cannot comment on it. Let the facts come to the fore.”
Kashmir Reader has learnt from highly placed sources that Muzaffar had told the DC Anantnag on phone that he cannot attend the function due to his poor health and instead will send his subordinate. This was also recorded in the communication sent by the Tehsildar to the Naib Tehsildar, a copy of which is also with Kashmir Reader.
Accordingly, he sent the Naib Tehsildar who attended the function, which was appreciated by the commandant of the CRPF camp. A copy of the official communication is with this newspaper.
