Muslim neighbours help in last rites of Pandit woman

Ganderbal: In an example of communal harmony and brotherhood, Muslim residents of Lar village in Ganderbal district on Sunday helped to perform the last rites of a Kashmiri Pandith woman.
Prabhwati Devi, 83, wife of Prativi Nath passed away at SKIMS Soura after a brief illness.
As the news of her demise spread in the area hundreds of Muslims including women and children rushed towards her house and took part in last rites.
Muslim men were seen carrying the body to the cremation ground in the village.
“We share a bond that goes back hundreds of years. When we heard about the sad news, all of us rushed to console the family members and arrange the last rites,” a neighbor said.
“This is our Kashmir and this is our culture and we share brotherhood we live here in peace and harmony,” said Ghulam Jeelani Wani, a neighbour.
