Srinagar: Senior PDP leader and former legislator Nizamuddin Bhat on Tuesday demanded establishing of a sub-office for passport facility at Bandipora.
A statement said that he has sought intervention of the chief minister Mehbooba Mufti and hoped she will use her good offices in external affairs ministry to meet the genuine demand of people.
Bhat said whole of the north Kashmir will be facilitated with the establishment of passport sub office.
He said aspirants for travel documents including Haj aspirants, professionals, students, skilled labour and others in need will be benefited.
Bhat said that ever since regional passport office was established in Jammu and Kashmir there was a need for sub offices in south and north Kashmir. “Now when the number of aspirants has swelled, state government should make a case for opening up of sub offices in north and south Kashmir,” he said.
Bhat said that various departments have to give clearance and support.
“While BSNL has to extend road band facility, police and other security agencies have to provide clearance which should be routine administrative matter,” he said.
Bhat said that regional passport authorities should also be made to lend early support so that the legitimate concerns of citizens are met.
