SRINAGAR: For the development of football in Jammu and Kashmir, State Football Academy of Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council launched its three more district football units at Anantnag, Kupwara and Baramulla respectively.
On the launching of Anantnag District Football Unit, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Riyaz Ahmed inaugurated the SFA district unit Anantnag and was the Chief Guest while as Vice Chairman District Sports Council Anantnag, M Amin Khan and District Football Association President and Secretary Mohammad Shafi besides other dignitaries were also present on the inaugural ceremony.
While presiding the gathering, Riyaz Ahmad hailed the initiatives of JKSSC and SFA for the ground breaking project to launch District Football Units in all 22 districts of the state besides providing platform to the raw talent from far flung areas.
Meanwhile, the selection trials for Anantnag District was conducted recently in which 60 probables got selected out of 300 football aspirants and who will be mentored by professional coaches of SFA.
Pertinently, State Football Academy (SFA) launched its Football Units at Kupwara and Baramulla districts on Saturday at Boys Higher Secondary School Kupwara and Khushaal Stadium Sopore respectively.
On the launching ceremony of District Unit Kupwara, Secretary Football Association, Imtiyaz Ahmad, Technical Director of SFA, Sajid Yousuf Dar, National Goalkeeping Coach, Umar Hayat, Ex-footballer Khazir Mohammad, SFA Head Coach Ganderbal Muzamil Mohammad, and district coaches of SFA were present.
Moreover, in Baramulla district, Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Khurshid Ahmad inaugurated the football unit for District Baramulla.
During the inauguration ceremony, Khurshid Ahmad addressed the gathering and hailed the initiatives taken by JKSSC and SFA for opening its district football units. He also encouraged the players to participate in games and sports.
Technical Director, Sajid Yousuf interacted with football enthusiastic and told them to get benefited from these units. He said, “In these football units we will provide you (footballers) professional coaches who will train you on modern lines and SFA will provide you platform to showcase your talent in different competitions.”
The objective behind opening district football units and football learning schools is to provide platform to talented and budding footballers from far flung areas besides to harness and nurture raw talent from grassroots level across the state.
Meanwhile, launching of these units received overwhelming response from locals and footballers and appreciated the initiatives taken by Secretary Sports Waheed-Ur-Rahman Para besides Executive Officer and other Officials from Council and SFA.
