AWANTIPORA: The Fourth Academic Council meeting of Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST) was held on Monday at IUST Campus, Awantipora.
The meeting was chaired by Prof. Mushtaq A Siddiqi, Honourable Vice Chancellor, IUST was attended by Prof. A. R. Trag, Former Vice Chancellor, IUST, Prof. Jahar Saha, Former Director, IIM Ahmedabad, Prof. Manju Jaidka, Former Chairperson, Department of English & Cultural Studies, Punjab University. Chandigarh, Prof. M.M.S. Beg, Principal, Z.H. College of Engineering & Technology, AMU, Aligarh, Prof. Javaid Akhter, Professor Business Administration/ Registrar, AMU, Aligarh, Prof. Moin Uddin, Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi, Prof. Alka Sharma, Director, The Business School, University of Jammu, Prof. A. M Shah, Dean, School of Business Studies, Prof. A. S. Bhat, Dean School of Humanities & Social Sciences, Prof. A, H. Moon, Dean, School of Technology, Prof. K. A. Tarzan, Dean of Students, ReyazRufai, Registrar, University Librarian, Chief Proctor, Dr. M. Amin Bhat, I/c Controller of Examinations, Sameer Wazir, I/c Finance Officer, Heads of various Departments/Centers and other university officials.
At the beginning of the meeting, Reyaz Rufai, Registrar, IUST and Secretary of the Academic Council of Varsity welcomed the Chairman and other members and non-member invitees. Prof. Siddiqi gave a power point presentation regarding the progress and future plans of the IUST. Teaching is the primary objective of the University for developing the technically competent manpower and University has taken various steps for strengthening teaching, and research he said.
Among others the agenda of the meeting include Establishment of New Departments/Colleges/Research Centers, Examinations Reforms, PhD Statutes, University Reservation Policy, Admissions, Faculty Strength in various Departments. Besides giving their various suggestions and advice, the members, lauded the efforts of the university in providing quality education and other services to the society.
