SRINAGAR : Continuing their protest for consecutive fifth day, Jammu and Kashmir Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Association (AWHA) on Monday demanded increase in honorarium and other benefits.
Scores of the protestors assembled here at press enclave and shouted slogans against the state government.
The protestors demanded increase in honorarium for both workers and helpers in Anganwadi centres.
President of Anganwadi Centres Association, Tasleema Subhan said, “We are on strike from last four days. In all Anganwadi Centre in Jammu and Kashmir pen down strike is being observed. The strike will continue till the government will not take any decision regarding our demands.”
She added that state government is providing six hundred rupees for helpers and three hundred rupees for workers, the rest of the honorarium is provided by the central government.
The Protesting employees also said: “We are demanding increase in honorarium, pension, and medical leave for both workers and helpers. We are also demanding the promotion of employees as per the seniority basis.”
The protestors also added that their honorarium is also pending from last six months. .
