Conferences, demonstration to mark the event

LAHORE: Pakistan government has announced a public holiday today to mark the Youm-e-Yakhjehti-e-Kashmir (Kashmir Solidarity Day) across Pakistan.
According to the notification issued by country’s Ministry of Interior, Pakistan will celebrate Kashmir Day with traditional zeal and enthusiasm.
“February 5 will be a public holiday and all government, semi-government and private offices will remain closed,” the notification reads.
“A one-minute silence would be observed at 10am at all government and semi-government institutions to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people, it said.
The notification added that the people of Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK) will mark the occasion by forming a human chain of hands “to show their support for their brothers and sisters across the border”.
Conferences, demonstrations and events related to the day are being planned in cities across the country, which will shed light on Kashmiris’ struggle.
Radio Pakistan will air special programmes on 5th February “to express solidarity” with the Kashmiri people.
According to schedule, messages of President and Prime Minister will be aired in programme “Subh- e Pakistan” starting at 7:10 a.m.
