SRINAGAR: Chairman Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Geelani on Saturday accused the chief minister Mehbooba Mufti of distorting facts “for the lust of chair”.
Geelani in a statement said Mehbooba is acting as “faithful puppet and stooge for her masters in New Delhi”.
“Mehbooba represents army and she is repeatedly telling lies to hoodwink world opinion. For the lust of chair, she is distorting facts and following the Goebbels’s theory. She believes that by parroting about false assertions and concocted theories, people will eventually come to believe it,” he said.
“She is undoubtedly wrong and no one takes her serious. She is being paid for her slave thinking,” Geelani added.
Reacting to CM’s statement wherein she said that AFSPA won’t go, Hurriyat chairman said, “She (Mehbooba) stands exposed, her rhetoric about revocation of AFSPA proved just a stunt and it is quite strange to justify forces for their wrongdoings and approve their most inhuman actions against civilians as they proved most brutal and undisciplined.”
Referring to recent civilian killings in Ganowpora Shopian, Geelani said despite “cold-blooded murder” of five civilians, Mehbooba is repeatedly praising her forces as the most disciplined and “saviours”.
The veteran resistance leader criticised Mehbooba for her “obstinate and scarring” statement and said that “lust for power turns these politicians as opportunistic and they don’t even feel ashamed of their false statements, deceit and deception”.
“They are turncoats,” said Geelani. “During election campaign, these pro-India turncoats pretend to be people-friendly and soon they get to power corridors they forget what they have pledged and turn their guns towards these innocent voters.”
He blamed forces for the prevailing “horrendous” situations in JK and said forces are “virtually engaged in genocide and (have) declared war on unarmed civilians”.
“It is ridiculous to blame civilians for uncertainty. Since past seven decades, forces are involved in killing, loot, plunder, torture, molestation and vandalising properties,” he said adding that pro-India politicians are hand in glove with “these killers and their masters”.
Geelani said since past 27 years, “more than one lakh people were killed, thousands injured, ten thousand disappeared in forces custody and unknown youth are buried in seven thousand unmarked graves”.
“The persistent turmoil and bloodshed has added more than 7000 half-widows, 22862 widows and 107676 orphans; 143048 youth were tortured in torture centres, thousands maimed, 108596 houses and shops vandalised, ten thousand women molested,” he said.
