SRINAGAR: Jammu Kashmir National Front on Friday said India and Pakistan should engage in a constructive dialogue to resolve the long pending Kashmir dispute which is endangering the peace and stability of the South Asian region.
“Dialogue between India and Pakistan is necessary and a must to resolve the outstanding issues between two countries especially Kashmir Issue,” NF said in a statement. “It is need of the hour to resolve Kashmir Issue without use of guns to end the ongoing bloodshed and immediate steps should be taken to uphold the human rights and dignity in the disputed region.”
The party said the recent civilian killings in Shopian have again proved that men in uniform have been given a free hand to tackle the situation which has proved disastrous in past as well.
“The Indian trigger happy soldiers know there is almost no chance they will be held to account for the killings and maiming of Kashmiri civilians. This unaccountability has given rise to a serious situation which can escalate if not addressed immediately,” NF said.
“India should fulfil its obligations and honour its commitments for resolving the Kashmir dispute according to the wishes of the people living in the disputed territory. The only way to stop bloodshed, human rights violations and atrocities against the people of Kashmir is to have the issue resolved amicably,” the party said.
