Bandipora: The inhabitants of north Kashmir’s Hajin town on Thursday protested and blocked Bandipora-Srinagar road over the unavailability of Tehsildar from last two months, thus hitting the administrative work.
The protesters of the area raised anti-government slogans. They said that they have been without a Tehsildar from last 2 months. Official sources say that it’s been exactly 50 days since the Tehsildar retired leaving the administrative post vacant.
Protesters further said that the old Tehsildar got retired on 31 November 2017 and since then the vacant post was not fulfilled neither any advertisement for the post was made.
“Tehsildar Ajas has been made in-charge Tehsildar Hajin in addition to his own duties, who too don’t make his presence everyday”, officials sources said.
“I am fed up of visiting here regularly due to the absence of Tehsildar. I have to visit here again and again. It’s time consuming and wastage of our precious time.” said a student protester, Nayeem Mohammad of Naidkhai, who comes everyday walking 6 kilometres to find a redressal for his grievances.
Later police party led by SHO Hajin visited the spot and assured the protesters that he will take up the matter with the concerned department.
After that, protesters dispersed peacefully.
