SRINAGAR: Police on Thursday evening raided the houses of several JKLF leaders and arrested party’s vice chairman Advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt and Sheikh Abdul Rashid, a party spokesperson in a statement issued here said.
He said police also raided the residence of leaders Javed Ahmad Zargar and Zahoor Ahmad Butt. Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has strongly condemned the ongoing police raids at various places to arrest party chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, who “to lead the Shopian program on Friday (today) has gone into hiding”.
A party spokesperson in a statement said police raided Malik’s residence on Wednesday and on Thursday raided JKLF offices at Abi-Guzar. The residence of JKLF zonal president Noor Muhammad Kalwal was also raided, he said.
Meanwhile, condemning the raids, Noor Kalwal said, “These raids and restrictions actually exhibit the travesty of so-called Indian democracy in Jammu Kashmir. Soon resistance camp especially Joint Resistance Camp (JRL) announces any peaceful political program; nocturnal and day long raids, arrests, restrictions and other oppressive measures by police begin in order to thwart the program.”
“Indian rulers and their Kashmiri stooges by using police and army might to suppress people’s voices are actually making mockery of democracy and ethics and this is highly condemnable,” he said.
Paying rich tributes to “two more victims of Indian aggression” Raiees Ahmad Ganie and a 10-year-old Musharraf Fayaz Najar of Shopian, Kalwal said “the responsibility of these gruesome killings lies on the shoulders of those pro-India politicians who provide legal shelter to terrorists in uniform and provoke them to kill more and more humans”.
“According to the law of retribution, killers and their abettors will have to answer for their crimes against humanity one day,” he added.
Meanwhile, Noor expressed heartfelt grief over the demise of Abdul Rashid Jaan of Suwan, Tangmarg. He prayed for heavenly abode of the deceased who was the maternal uncle of JKLF chief organiser Siraj ud din Mir.
