Demands release of monthly honorarium
SRINAGAR: All Jammu and Kashmir Chowkidar Association on Thursday staged a protest demonstration here in press enclave Srinagar against the government for delay in release of their monthly honorarium.
President of All Jammu and Kashmir Chowkidar Association Bashir Ahmad Sheikh, said, “The government has already announced honorarium of rupees five thousand salary for Chowkidars. But we have yet to receive it.”
“We are nearly 5500 chowkidars working in the Revenue department and we are doing our work honestly , from registering birth certificates prepare death certificates and also perform revenue related works,” Sheikh said
“The honorarium of Rs 5500 is not enough to fulfill needs of our families and we are finding it difficult to meet our ends,” he added.
He further said that In the recent budget season, the state government has not take any step to increase our honorarium.”
The protestors appealed Revenue Minister to look into the matter.
