TAAI to hold 64th annual convention in Srinagar in March

NEW DELHI: To give a major boost to tourism sector of Jammu and Kashmir, Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) is going to organise its 64th annual convention from 27th to 30th March, 2018 at Srinagar.
This was announced by President TAAI Sunil Kumar here on wednesday in a press meet in presence of Secretary Tourism JK Sarmad Hafeez and Director Tourism Kashmir Mahmood A Shah. Around 500 travel agents from across India are expected to participate in the annual convention in Srinagar which is seen as a major boost to tourism of J&K, read an official handout.
President TAAI Sunil Kumar said J&K is one of the prime destinations in India where travellers can enjoy any tourism products.
“TAAI convention will help leading travel agents get familiar with beauty and the hospitality of the state,” Kumar said. Secretary tourism J&K Sarmad Hafeez said the state government wants to show the state’s tourism beauty by organising the annual convention in Srinagar.
He said, “The annual convention at Srinagar will help boost tourism sector in a big way as leading travel agents from India and other parts will network with the local travel and hospitality sector to generate awareness of local tourism products.”
He said the state tourism department is organising many festivals and cultural activities in the state to entertain tourists visiting the state.
Director Tourism Kashmir Mahmood A Shah also spoke on the occasion and said the convention is like a home coming for travel agents. “It is after 30 years that TAAI convention is happening in Kashmir. It’ll be home coming for you to visit Kashmir and see by yourself the beautiful landscape, culture, art and craft, sumptuous food and above all the hospitable people of JK state,” he said.
Earlier, TAAI Conventions were held in Abu Dhabi, UAE in 2016, Bali, Indonesia in 2015, Bengaluru, India in 2013, Istanbul, Turkey in 2012, Phuket, Thailand in 2010, Dubai, UAE in 2009, London, UK in 2007.
