SRINAGAR: A court in Delhi on Wednesday dismissed the bail petition of 62-year-old Hurriyat Conference leader Shabir Ahmad Shah, detained in Tihar jail from last year.
Dr Bilques, wife of Shah, told Kashmir Reader that the court dismissed the bail plea moved by his husband’s lawyer. She said the lawyer had argued that Shah’s name is not mentioned in the 12700-page charge sheet submitted by the NIA.
“The NIA being the prime investigating agency has no where mentioned Shabir Shah in its 12700-page charge sheet. ED lawyer had nothing to say in his defence except that Shah’s release on bail might influence the witnesses,” Bilques said. “However his lawyer argued that the case is with Delhi police and ED Office therefore it cannot influence the case. Still the bail was dismissed,” she added.
Shah was earlier denied bail by the court on August 22. He was arrested by the ED, a day after several Hurriyat leaders were taken into custody of the National Investigating Agency in a case of alleged funding to Kashmir movement.
