Srinagar: Shutdown is being observed in North Kashmir’s Sopore town Wednesday to mourn the murder of Goldsmith, Tariq Ahmed Malik who was kidnapped, murdered then thrown into river Jhelum on 26 December. His body was fished out after 34 days on Tuesday evening by joint efforts of Police and locals.
The shutdown call has been given by trade body Sopore, which is also supported by local Bar Association and Fruit Association in solidarity with murdered Goldsmith’s family.
Following the call, all shops and other business establishments are closed while less movement of traffic is witnessed in town.
Pertinently, Tariq Ahmed Malik of Kalaroos area of Kupwara district was running a Jewellery shop in Apple town Sopore before he had gone missing from his shop. Police have already arrested four accused of kidnapping murdering Tariq.
