Shutdown in Shopian enters sixth day

Shopian: All business establishments, shops and other services remained closed while roads were deserted for the sixth consecutive day in Shopian district on Tuesday. The shutdown call was spontaneous against the killing of two students by army at Ganowpora village.
Two students, Suhail Javid Lone of Ganowpora village and Javid Ahmad Bhat of Balpora village, were killed in forces firing on January 27. One person also sustained a bullet injury; he has been identified as Rayees Ahmad Ganie of Nadpora village of the district.
Earlier, a civilian, Shakir Ahmad Mir of Kalanpora, was killed during an encounter at Choeigund-Adoo, and two ladies were injured, including the sister of one of the militants killed in that encounter. The two militants were identified as Sameer Ahmad Wani of Choiegund-Adoo and Firdous Ahmad Lone of Ganowpora village.
