WGFI to hold selection trials

SRINAGAR: Winter Games Federation of India is holding two day selection trials at Gulmarg starting from 3rd February to select team for Asian Junior Alpine Ski Championship.
India is also fielding its boys and girls teams to take part in the Championship.
The selection will be held in association with Winter Games Association of J&K, High Altitude Warfare School, Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering.
President, WGFI, Col Dhillon informed that each affiliated Unit will field 4 boys and 4 girls in the trials. He further informed that the athletes must be registered with FIS and should carry valid FIS Code. The participants are advised to have passport readily available.
WGAJK general secretary Muhammad Yusuf said that the Association is also fielding its athletes to compete in the trials and those atheletes who have participated in the last State Championship and have won top positions in the upper categories falling in the age group between 1993-2001 would be no considered. The athletes should have the FIS code and carry a valid passport.
Meanwhile, the President WGAJK Mohammad Abbas Wani congratulated Hanya Zehra and Shabir Ahmad Khan for winning the State Award recently. He further said that it is proud moment for entire winter sports community of the state. He assured in near future our athletes would perform well at national and international levels.
