Srinagar: A Police Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meeting was held on Sunday with the “Elaqaie Behbood Committee Takanwari Safa Kadal” in the office of the SDPO MaharajGunj, spokesperson said.
The meeting was chaired by SDPO M.R. Gunj S M Shafi.
Police spokesperson said that various aspects of Police Community groups were discussed thoroughly and the relationship between Police and Public regarding crime control and detection, social issues, issues related to basic amenities and counseling of youth with regard to unrest were discussed at length.
Spokesperson added that participants informed the meeting about some self-styled community groups created by some miscreants for their vested interests in the area and carry out misdeeds by means of their blackmailing tactics.
“They try to weaken the sustained efforts of Police against crime and criminals by various means. Serious notes were taken of the comprehensive discussion and it was mutually held that every productive step with regard to public welfare would be taken by police. Discussions were held with regard to drug peddling and drug addiction and the ways to curb the menace,” spokesperson said.
Public friendly activities of the Sub Divisional Police Officer MR Gunj were hailed by all participants and more steps to strengthen the relations between Police and public were also discussed, spokesperson said.
Meanwhile a police community partnership group meeting was held at Police Station Parimpora, Srinagar.
The meeting was chaired by SP City West, Gurinderpal Singh and was attended by SHO Parimpora Inspector Mehraj-ud-din and large number of respectable citizens of area including civil society members, spokesperson said.
“The participants highlighted various issues of public importance and other issues relevant to police & civil administration. Discussion was also held regarding forthcoming Panchayat elections. Participants assured their full support & cooperation in fighting against the social crimes,” spokesperson said.
Referring to the issues highlighted by the participants, SP City West assured them that issues pertaining to Police will be solved in shortest possible time and the rest will be taken up with the civil administration for their redressal on priority.
