EC Zanskar Affairs stresses for strengthening KVK

KARGIL: Executive Councilor (EC) for Zanskar Affairs Tenzin Sonam called on the Deputy Secretary to DG Indian Council for Agriculture Research (ICAR) AK Singh at New Delhi on Sunday.
During the meeting, several issues pertaining to the functioning of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Zanskar and issues associated with it came up for discussion, read an official handout.
The EC while underlining the need to strengthen KVK Zanskar in terms of manpower stressed for the filling up of vacant posts there so as to augment research work to benefit the farming community in the area.
Sonam highlighted the need for the provision of more funds to the KVK from ICAR so that “serious and meaningful research work is carried out in agriculture and allied sectors”.
Issues like conduct of exposure tours to progressive farmers, inclusion of Karsha block under KVK Zanskar and other key issues were also discussed in the meeting.
The deputy secretary assured the EC that all issues shall be considered on priority adding more funds shall be sanctioned for Zanskar during the next financial year, the handout added.
