Shopian shuts against killing of civilian, militants

SRINAGAR: A complete shutdown was observed on Saturday in Shopian against killing of a civilian Shakir Ahmad Mir and two locals militants in an encounter with government forces at Choiegund-Adoo village on Wednesday evening.
All the business establishments, shops and tuition centres remained closed while traffic was off the roads.
Two militants, Firdous Ahmad Lone son of Abdul Rasheed Lone and Sameer Ahmad Wani son of Hilal Ahmad Wani were killed on Wednesday evening in a gunfight with forces. Two ladies including sister of slain Sameer and their neighbour were critically injured in forces’ firing. Both are under treatment at SKIMS Soura.
A 10-year-old boy Musharaf Fayaz son of Fayaz Ahmad Najar resident of Daramdoor village of Shopian was critically injured after a live shell exploded in his hand when he was playing with that near his home. He is also under critical care treatment at SKIMS.
